Who We Are
The PH Family.
Our group changes from year to year, but the spirit remains the same. We are all passionate about international healthcare and being fully engaged in our global community. The group is made up of medical and pharmacy students, and attending physicians from the UF/Shands health system.
The goal of each trip is to strike the perfect balance of education and service, something we have fine tuned over the years. Much of our trip is student run, providing incredible service-learning opportunities for the students involved. At the same time we provide free medical care to the people living in the border towns, migrant camps, and big cities at the border of the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
It’s a proverbial win-win.
We receive funding from the university, but we raise most of our money ourselves. Our fundraising events, auctions, and painting sales must go on year-round to reach our goals. Most importantly, we rely on our many generous patrons who, like ourselves, feel a kinship to those in need.
Ultimately, we are the people we treat.
